Today I succeeded in making the first testruns with my Laser Direct Imaging (LDI) machine.
Unfortunately I had a shortcut, and that fried my blue Laser Diode, and I had to replace it with a red one.
For the folks at smoothieware.org who helped me in implementing and adjusting the FW of the MBED, I post this nice video of drawing a testpattern onto a hole-PCB.
I chose this hole-PCB to be able to see, if there are some weird problems. The holes are spaced 2.54mm apart from each other, and in the video clip my laser is drawing a 25.4 x 25.4 mm pattern.
I used the playback feature of Smoothie, so I loaded a g-code file onto the mbed local filesystem, and issued the play command.
There are still some hysteresis problems at the edge of the possible drawing area, but for now it is ok.
I can't wait till I get my blue laser...
